If you’ve stumbled across this page then you must be lost, or really bored.
But..
I’m a geo-nerd based in Edinburgh. I grew up in The Lake District, surrounded by mountains, rivers, forests and lakes. I only appreciated that once I’d moved away to University but some of it must have rubbed off on me as I decided to study Geography. It was in my final year that I learned about a little thing called GIS and so, went to Edinburgh to complete an MSc in GIS.
While it was a fantastic time and I fell in love with Edinburgh, it was also a real back breaker of a course with new skills and software thrown at me every day and a week or less to complete each assignment with said new skills and software.
Somehow I got through it with a grade decent enough to start working at Esri UK where I learned more about Python programming within GIS and The Esri Stack. From there I’ve floated around learning new ways to use GIS and I am always discovering ways in which much cleverer people than me are using GIS in innovative ways.
I’ve decided to consolidate what I’ve learnt, what I’m learning and what future me will learn on this website, as well as other things that are of interest to me.
Thanks for reading!
William
